Hi Fiona! My name is Barbara, I’m Italian but I have been
Living in England for the past 13 years. Like all of you I am
An animals lover. I have grew up with cats and dogs and
Other animals and I have recently started as a volonteer
With the RSCPA here in Manchester. I have come across
Your website and I can see that you also do wonderful things
Over there, you really are a STAR! I was just wondering if rescues
Dogs in Italy can also be adopted from the UK?… You have
So many beautiful dogs and I have fallen in love with a few already….
However I will need a very special dog, a dog who will be my best
Friend for ever…. A dog who would match with my family and my
Life style. I will have plenty of time to spend with the dog as I only
Work evening shifts, I also have two beautiful cats who I love very much..
And of course my lovely boy Who is nearly 9 now and he loves animals too.

Stray dogs and cats in Europe – survey – Russian animal welfare organization. We need your help.
Survey “Methods of Stray Control in Europe”.
Your participation does make a difference! Please help us to improve animal welfare situation in Russia!
Dear Fiona, we are a group of Russian animal welfare activists, participating in a project called Omekon, which in Russian language stands for shortening from “Methods of Stray Control in Europe”.
As you might be aware, there is no animal rights law active in Russia. The state of animal welfare in Russia is very poor in general, and the situation with stray animals is one of the most imminent problems. In absence of any control measures, cities and villages are overcrowded with stray cats and dogs which are the subject to abuse for both local population and local authorities.
At the moment there is an ongoing discussion regarding the methods of stray reduction. However, this discussion is not productive, as many interest groups have different ideas of how to deal with the problem. Unfortunately, there is also no common position on the matter among the animal welfare activists, i.e. different groups provide contradicting information with regard to stray control practices in European countries. For example, the same country can be reported as both one which does and does not allow euthanasia of healthy strays in the shelters.
To cope with this issue, our group has decided to carry out the survey of stray control practices in Europe. And we are kindly asking you to participate in this survey. It should take you approximately 30 minutes to complete the survey “Methods of Stray Control in European countries”. The survey is available in Russian, English and German languages.
    Link to the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XQVRVRV
We are planning to write a report based on the results of this survey. The report will be available in Russian and English. It will be published on the webpage http://www.omekon.wordpress.com or distributed upon a request.
We hope that the results of this survey will help animal welfare activists to gain a better idea of how the stray reduction functions in Europe, which ultimately should lead to development of a common position on the possible methods of stray control in Russia. We also hope that the results of the survey will support animal welfare activists in their bargaining with authorities regarding methods of stray control in Russia.
The survey is available online until March 1, 2013.
In case you are interested in the results of the survey, we will gladly provide you with a digital copy of the report in English or in Russian language.
Thank you in advance for you time!
