We have three Italian cats, all strays that we rescued (well, two strays and then one had kittens) and nothing could make me happier than seeing them relaxing in the sun, happy and well-fed and most importantly - loved. They get on well with the dogs and even play together sometimes.
So it makes me so sad to receive these appeals for abandoned cats and kittens looking for good homes. If you are thinking about getting a new cat then please consider one of these. Some of the stories are very sad.

Bianchino is a one year old blue-eyed cat who is castrated, vaccinated and is house-trained. He is desperate for a new peaceful home with a fenced garden. This is essential for him as he is completely DEAF.
He is presently being fostered by a lady with a small garden near the road and she is constantly worried something will happen to him because obviously he can't hear the traffic. He URGENTLY needs a new home. Can you help?

Trespolo has three legs, his front leg was amputated after we found him
seriously injured in the woods, although it’s not clear if this was from an
accident, an attack or something else. He has recovered and adapted extremely
well. He makes up for the missing leg using his shoulder, mouth or the other
front leg.
Trespolo
is lively, playful and very affectionate, which is surprising as wild cats are
usually very shy. He looks for human contact, cuddles and affection. He’s
just under three months old and is a tiger tabby with two huge green eyes. He
eats anything, knows how to use the litter tray loves sleeping on the sofa or
bed and enjoys playing with little soft cat toys which he carries around in his
mouth.
We
are convinced that he can lead a very normal life, despite his terribile injury
and that he will bea n ideal family cat. He deserves it.

TURIN
This little
cat is Gaia. She is four years old and was abandoned by her owner who had kept
her in appalling condition. She has many health issues including feline Aids
and an x-ray has shown a a probable lymphoma. The previous owner was contacted
and said basically: “do what you like. Let me know what happens. I’m prepared
to pay for her to be put to sleep.”
These are
her prospects: She could have a needle biopsy to find out the nature of the
tumour and then undergo light chemotherapy. If she responds well she could live
another three or four years. However the treatment is expensive. Also treating
her makes no sense if she then has to spend the rest of her days in a cage. She
needs a loving home and a family.
The person
posting this writes: “I’m not asking for money for Gaia, I’m asking for a
miracle. Someone who doesn’t have any other cats, or who has other cats with
the same condition, and who can keep her inside their home and give her a happy
secure home for whatever time she has left. She may live a few more moths or a
few more years. Someone who can cuddle her when she’s well and who can reassure
here and stay close when she is having a hard time. Please,
please can you help. There is only a very short time to find a solution. I know it’s a long shot, but I have
to try.”
She is in
Turin and adoptable in Piemonte, Lombardia, Liguria and Valle d’Aosta. Ideally they don’t want her to travel too far
fior the adoption as they don’t want her unnecessarily stressed. However they
will assess every single offer of adoption.

This little female cat is a year and a half old and has been spayed. She loves rabbits - but not to play with - she is quite the hunter and for that reason her present adopted family can't keep her any more. She is in a room in their house as they have other animals roaming free and don't want any harm to come to them.
If you can rehome this little cacciatrice then please email Ilaria her email address is ilaria.isacchi@libero.it
This lovely
cat is named King, and from September his owners will be unable to keep him. He
is a beautiful, good natured cat that loves cuddles and is extremely
affectionate. He’s four years old has
medium to long hair and has been vaccinated. He is slightly afraid of places
that are too open, for example big gardens, while a terrace or the house are his
idea of heaven.

LINCE is about eight months – a year old. He’s really pretty with longish fur
and hairy ears a bit like a Lynx. In fact,
that’s what his name Lince means. Most importantly he has a wonderful character, is
affectionate and extrovert and loves company. He urgently needs a home as the
person he was with couldn’t keep him and so he was passed to us. As we haven’t
got a cattery we can’t keep him here but are doing our best to find him a good
home. We really hope we can sort him out as he is a lovely, healthy little chap
who needs someone to love him. More photos on http://canilicasentino.blogspot.com/2009/07/cerca-urgentemente-casa.html

Romeo is a gorgeous semi-long hair ginger and white tomcat with the
clever look and fluffy ears of a lynx! He is a three year old cat, and he is
neutered, he is well balanced and sociable, yet proud and majestic like a
little lion. A real feline! All he needs now is a warm pillow and your
precious company…
Romeo is in Naples, but can be adopted anywhere in Italy

Monkey is just over a year old.
She was found at two months of age with one of her front paws mangled,
probably by a moving car. The tips of
one of her front paws were crushed and had to be amputated, but she retains her
leg and she is fully independent, although not suitable for living out doors. She is the perfect apartment cat. She is quite an independent cat as a rule,
but during the five minutes a day when she gets affection she laps it up! Monkey
responds to her name and loves to have long chats when talked to.
She can live with dogs who are used to cats, after an initial settling
in time, of course.

LUIS is a young cat between 1 and 2 years old. He was hit by a car and was quite badly injured. He got better but is left with a semi-paralysed paw. Sadly tests show he has also been infected with feline leukemia . He has to live indoors so that he doesn’t infect other cats and also because of his injury. He will be sterilized before going to his new family.
MICIA was left at the Clinica
veterinaria iI Gatto e la Volpe in Bibbiena because she too has feline leukemia.
This is under control but clearly she has to be kept indoors so as not to
infect other cats. She is a happy little soul just waiting for the right person
to adopt her.

Trini is a pretty 18 month old female cat. Due to her ex-owners’ unwillingness to pay
vet’s fees, a small wound on her front paw turned into a serious infection, and
as a result her front right leg had to be amputated. This doesn’t pose a real
difficulty to young Trini, who goes about her business just the same.
