I’ve kept alpacas in my farmhouse garden, La Vigna, in Tuscany since 2013. Since then there have been seven baby alpacas born here. We currently have two lovely Suri alpacas, Asti and Pinot. Asti of the golden fleece is the first female alpaca born at La Vigna, (after six boys!) so there was much celebration. Pinot is a lovely brown male born just a day before Asti. He had a tough start in life as his mother Champagne died when he was just three months old. We think she kept going just long enough to make sure he could manage on his own.
